New addition to my winter clothes..

.. is again something I made. A bolero from this soft, furlike fabric I bought a few weeks ago and haven't got the time to sew it before.
I even managed to make a hood as it wasn't in the first plan because of course I didn't want to buy more fabric than I already did. But I managed, precise cutting and all. ;)
Hope you like it. :)

Primark

I always say my favourite store is Müller, and for maybe half a year now I usually say Svet metraže, but this week I'm convinced again that my favourite store is Primark. Every time I go to London I bring home too many things. Well there is never too many, just for the sake of my carry on baggage and my travel condition of being dressed as an Eskimo.
It's all worth it though, the empty wallet and less money on the bank account is not really a problem when you realise how much you got for the same amount that would only be enough for like 3 things in Slovenia.
Beside Primark there are always these little shops on the streets where they sell everything British. And since they are pretty cheap, at least the things I was looking at, I finally brought home some Union Jack themed stuff that I can use every day. Like for example my new wallet. I just love it.
So do go to London, I just gave you another great reason for it. :)
PS: The picture does not contain everything I bought. There are more gloves and another shirt that my friend already got when we met.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey UK Premiere

Well as you may have realised from my previous posts I have travelled to London last week to join the most amazing event of the year - premiere of the first film of The Hobbit Trilogy.
It was 7am when I got there, got my number for the line and waited.
And waited.
And then we moved a bit.
And waited.
And waited.
And then it finally started at 5.30pm. All going pretty slow and yet so fast that you can't really manage your book, pen, camera, words and hands well. Still I managed to get almost all the autographs, except my dear Richard (Thorin Oakenshield), but that's another story, also Billy and Dominic (Pipin and Merry) were late so they pretty much just ran by and waved. Princ William arrived even later and just drove by but even just a sight of him is priceless.
Plus the movie is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. You should all go see it. Twice. At least. ;)

And now we wait for the next part.
And before that for the airlines to start selling tickets for December 2013. I'll be the first one tu buy them that's for sure.

British cake

I'm leaving for London in two days which is so exciting that I couldn't help but make something British connected again.
So yesterday was the day when I made an Union Jack cake for the very first time. It took me rather long as I had never done anything with this kind of dough before so that was new, plus of course I had to pretty much place every single berry by itself so I could make the flag as accurate as possible.

Between layers I put sweet cream with raspberries and on top we have redcurrants and blueberries that would be a better colour if they'd be fresh but it's December so that was the only thing I had. For the lines I just used some more sweet cream, almost run out of it but it ended up being OK nevertheless.

Hope you like it, hope you'll make it too one day and don't forget to post pictures. :)

Svet metraže strikes again

Today I went there to buy one piece of fabric. One. Of course I came out with two. Before I sat down in my car I realised I forgot to buy another fabric so I went back in and got out with three new pieces. When I thanked the employers for their help I already added that I'm not coming back. But never say never, I was back in two minutes, figuring out that if I bought the previous fabric I have to buy something else as well. So I come out with three new additions again. This time, after thanking them again, I even said that it's the last time they're seeing me today, that I already spend so much. I got into my car, drove home and before the last turn I remembered that I forgot a tape for side lining and drove back. The thing is I have to get everything finished in 5 days so I had to hurry back because tomorrow I might not have time for it. Stepping in the store I was laughing to myself quietly and they were too because I spent a good hour and a half there today already. And still I was back. Didn't end up buying tape but lead to buying another fabric, twice as much as I was thinking about the first time I entered the store today. Needless to say I thanked them again, told them it's their fault that I'm buying so much, blaming it on all the choices, started to think of buying some fleece because it's 20% off, but after kind words I did leave the store, Svet metraže, my absolute favourite, and finally got home after two hours.
Well, like my dear friend always says: 'You do only live once'. ;)

Lights and Snow

Yep, the lights are lit for happy December plus it's snowing here in Ljubljana and it stuck over the night, finally. And stuck on my nails for a bit as well.

December baking with slovene recipes

Yesterday our place was like a saint Nicholas' workshop. My mom and I made over 500 gingerbread biscuits. December really started and I'm counting down the days for all the perfect moments this month will bring.

25dag masla
6 jajc
25dag sladkorja
25dag medu
klinčki, cimet, limonina lupinica
1kg moke

700g mehke moke
300g ostre moke
300g sladkorja
500g masla
2 zavitka pecilnega praška
2 zavitka vanilijeva sladkorja
4 jajca
limonina lupinica
Vse sestavine zgnetemo v testo, piškote oblikujemo z mesoreznico z nastavkom za piškote. Pečemo jih pri 200°C približno 8 minut. Po želji jih okrasimo s čokolado.

Feel free to come and try them. :)

It's December

Hobbit premiere

Waaa! Just found out where it will be held and as it is a royal premiere I'll get to see the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as well! Aaaaaa, I'm so so sooo excited! Can't wait!
Only twelve days left.

Henna - how to

Or to my friends known as kana in translation is an amazing Indian flowering plant to dye your skin with, paint your fingernails (which sometimes happens to me by mistake and lack of preparations) and of course to dye your hair. And that is what I do every now and then, approximately 3 times a year. It has the advantage that it slowly fades so you don't have to colour it every two weeks to hide your new grown hair.
Plus I LOVE the colour.
You can buy your original henna in Sariko in Nazarjeva street in Ljubljana for no more than 6EUR and you can use it for two persons or twice, of course it all depends on the length of your hair.
Don't worry, that's how it should look. And the smell is also not pleasant but you will get used to it. The texture should be like a mashed potato, if it runs too much it will be all over your back even though you put plastic foil over your hair. For the temperature increases inside and it will only run more and more as the time goes by.
You should leave it on for two hours and then wash it as best as you can. If you want it a bit darker you can mix the powder with black tea. Also after a few days it will fade a bit so it won't be as flashy as the first two days.

Can't wait

I honestly can't wait for December to come, first London and Oxford, then holidays and afterwards hopefully a day for me. :)

Adoramus concert

Yesterday I had the privilege to work with Mr Marjan Grdadolnik again. This time as a part of a Gospel and popular songs concert that was organised by KUD Adoramus in Logatec. It was a really varied program as there were many different participants such as children's choir, youth choir, SPES - the accompanying band, additional chamber string orchestra, tambourica group Vremščica, Eva Hren as a lead vocal and Gregor Čušin, an actor.
It was all very thrilling, the songs were amazing, the interpretation impeccable and the voices flawless.
I am glad I got to be there, perform and be a part of something so great.
Thank you all for coming.

My favourites: Ruža crvena, sung by Adoramus men's choir, and Adiemus (don't have their recording yet) with Estera Stojko as the perfect soloist.

Nantes

A city on the west side of France, quite big, has tramway and also an university where my dearest friend Vita is currently on an exchange. She kindly invited me to come so Jan and I were there for 3 days and we had a really good time. :)
Thank you again, Vita, for everything. <3

Burda and quality sewing

Last week my mom bought me a magazine, Burda, a sewing manual with patterns and all. I was really moved. I didn't expect it at all. Didn't think of it and would never. :)
So now I can really start to sew. Properly. And maybe more than just three different things which are by now a skirt, dress 1 and dress 2. I did try to sew a tunic and it did come out pretty OK but it's the fabric that's the problem as it keeps ripping at the stitches.
Well now everything can and hopefully will improve. :)
Thank you, mom. <3

An thank you, Maja, for some sewing equipment. :)

Yesterday and movies

As you have maybe read in my previous entry I had a lot planned for yesterday. It was a lovely Saturday, I had all the time to myself, and out of the things on the to-do list I finished with union jack pattern on my room's ceiling which was harder than expected. I did practise as well and don't worry, I ate too much. :)
But mostly I can describe yesterday by going to the movies.
For once I loved the commercials, well, only the one for The Hobbit, of course.

First movie of the day: Brave by Disney with my nephews and I loved it, all Celtic and the accent was just perfect.
I recommend it. But if you just watch it on your home screen it will be fine too.

And later on Jan and I went to see Skyfall. We wanted to go earlier of course, as a true Bond fans, but illness was against it. And it was so worth it! Every cent. Even though my wallet isn't really full at all. I would, no, I will go again. :) I LOVEd it!
And Adele did it justice with title song as well.
I recommend this one even more. It is one of the best Bond movies ever. Way better than the previous one, I can assure you that. With a lot of London in between. <3

Lastly I bought the tickets for Twilight already, I know it's not the best movie and all but as a fan I have to go see it on the first day of showing. ;)
Yet it only deserves a picture of this size. Especially so near to Bond.

To do today

- eat breakfast
- draw the lines for the British flag on the ceiling
- practise viola
- sew a skirt, a bag, a dress, or another dress, or a tunic
- make another three of those fabric 'wallpapers'
- eat something in between
- practise some more

I guess I better start this lovely day asap. :)

PS: Does anyone has any ideas what music I can listen to meanwhile?

Happy December?

Yesterday I am going to the centre with a bus and there is this weird truck aside the road and reaching toward the trees. I look up and there is a man, a worker. I thought well isn't that a bit late to cut the branches? And then it was suddenly there. Hard to see. A rope with thousands and thousands small lights on. They are already decorating the city. I guess this year is really coming to an end, quickly, too fast. I haven't even properly started with this year yet, not even in school (God help me), and here it is, almost over? Well not really, but time does fly by. I look forward to December though (as November is just a crappy month) and I hope it will somehow last long, well I hope it'll feel this way. And hopefully I won't catch a nasty cold before the calendar turns. Cold, you can swing by later, I know you will. It's somehow inevitable.

And to all of you who are not from Ljubljana, do come and spend a few days here during Christmas and New Year, it is stunningly lovely around here.

My new favourite store

Svet metraže, what else were you thinking?
I do spend too much time and money there, I have been there 3 times last week and some employees already know me. Yes! Mission accomplished. I always somehow secretly wanted that. And in a good store, not on a kebab stand where this somehow happens too.
I got 4 new fabrics and I already made a skirt for myself, a dress for my sister-in-law, and something to put on the wall that I just don't know what to call. You can see on the pictures below. Hope you like them.

Concert

Movies and music. And what is better than the combination of these two? :) Nothing, that's right.
On Sunday we had two wonderful concerts in Vrhnika with Cantabile, an orchestra originally from Logatec. We played a lot of famous movie themes including Titanic, Robin Hood, Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean and also some amazing songs from Slovene movies and series with my all time favourite Kekčeva pesem. Thanks to everyone that came, the choir and to all the soloists, who worked even harder to make this evening special and perfect. Finally thanks to our conductor who works with us as much as needed and is very patient, even though we are not always properly prepared for the practice or even present. Thank you.

Plus Lord of the Dance, an extra song, to announce the coming concerts for new year. I LOVE it. Hope you'll enjoy it too. Next time in our edition.

Labels

Yesterday I added a new section to my blog with all the labels marked and most used and all. Which is something I just LOVE to check on every page.

I have to thank my lovely friend Neža for starting this and showing it to me through her blog plus kindly leading me on to how and where I can find this.
So I spend an hour in the afternoon editing the posts and adding labels that seemed logical and not too specific. I certainly hope I did a good job and that you'll like to check it out just like I do.
Enjoy the day with a smile on your face.

All Hallows' Eve

Or as it is more known: Halloween.
Many Slovenians don't like it but personally I have nothing against it.

Once more I made our lovely cupcakes, around 50 this time, for scouts' meeting, family and random friends.
Hope you like them and already feel sorry for not tasting them. ;)

Thanks

Thank you, my friends, for understanding me and being there for me when I'm down or when I have amazing things to share.

Thank you, family, for everything that you have given me and still are.

And thank you, God, for loving me no matter what.

happy

Trying to put all these wonderful feelings and all in words is definitely hard. I'll try though because honestly I haven't felt this good in some time and it would be nice to put it out here, like it's the proper thing to do. Since it's nothing big and yet everything feels perfect. All the small, not just small, tiny things,
and moments that only last a second, tiny second.
(If we leave out Academy but that can be all done too.)

It is mostly because of all the loved ones that surround me. I feel very blessed to have the best people that I can trust and every moment spent together is worth cherishing. As it doesn't seem right to name names here I hope each and every one of them knows it's them that I have in mind. :)

I think I now know why I'm never cold. These people keep me warm,
warm from the deepest corners of my heart to the very fingertips.
I wish I could love you more. :)

I hope that someday I will dare to say I was here.

- amazing year with my wonderful friends and family -

Malta

Last (but definitely not least) summer trip this year. :)

PS: How I love the fact that Malta used to be a British colony. ;)

New in

This is another dress I made, one out of three, for Martina's wedding two weeks ago. It was very lovely and the three singers (Polona, Urša and myself) were matching in these purple outfits with black belt touch-up.
Here Martina kindly lent me her bouquet for a picture, taken by our amazing Patricija Udovč.
Hope you like it. :)

summer 2012

Until now I can sum up my summer with two words: music and scouts.
And it's perfect. I wouldn't ask for anything more. They both contain my favourite people and they make every second worth sharing.
And it keeps getting better. :)
Malta, my last stop in just a few weeks. :)
With my favourite people of course.

Diamond jubilee

I can't believe I didn't even put at least one picture of my Diamond jubilee feast up here. So here it is, as late as can be. :)

New just in

New dress. Made in time when I should be studying. Hugely mistaken for my prom dress by prof. Emeršič. Never mind. I guess it looks just as good. ;)

I will try and put on a picture with a red belt as well. And the black one too.
More coming soon. :)
